Fire & Water - Cleanup & Restoration

SERVPRO of North Tempe Reminds You that Smoke Detectors Save Lives.

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) has noted that smoke detectors have improved greatly since their introduction to the public in the 1970s. Smoke detectors only rarely have false alarms, and they give people enough time to get to safety. Let SERVPRO® of North Tempe worry about the things; let the family take care of the family.

SERVPRO of North Tempe

The NFPA estimated that 94% of homes in the United States have been hit by fire or smoke damage at one point; that seemed excessive until we realized that even a mild toaster glitch can lead to smoke damage. You may have noticed an odd stain on an upstairs wall and couldn’t figure the origin; perhaps smoke from a long-ago overdone breakfast damaged the area. If there is too much smoke or fire damage to ignore, call SERVPRO of North Tempe; we’ll come to your house and help get things right again.

The Damage Doesn’t End When the Fire Does

Fire’s destructiveness is obvious. The aftermath is less so. Both smoke and soot, the residue from fire, are corrosive. Most residential fires in the United States start in the kitchen and most kitchen fires are at least partly protein. Smoke from protein is nearly colorless, but that doesn’t mean it’s not damaging. The residue is also greasy, corrosive, and pungent – the polite word for “smelly.”

Other types of smoke and soot come from household materials, including plastics that burn at high temperatures and may include toxic fumes.

Heat from the fire could have burst water or sewage pipes, or fire suppression could have contributed to water damage as well.

Even if the only water was initially clean, mold spores need only 24 to 48 hours contact with water to develop into mold.

At SERVPRO of North Tempe, we apply this knowledge to:

  • Clean
  • Disinfect
  • Remediate and
  • Help restore your home and belongings
